Talk to us about your longest-running WIP or UFO.

Mini Treasure Hunt Bookshelf is my oldest WIP. I have restarted it twice and have let the confetti get the better of me on more than one occasion. It took learning new tricks just to bring me back to it. Now I work on it at least one day a month. I am about halfway through my second page. 10 more after that but a few are not full pages. I love the design and am learning to love the process for stitching it. As my first HAED it has come with a large learning curve, but I am loving every minute of it.

Mini Treasure Hunt Bookshelf from Heaven and Earth Designs is my oldest project. I started it for a SAL in Cross Stitch and Discuss #2 ; December 1, 2015. I have since restarted it twice, the first time due to fabric damage. The second due to fabric I didn’t like. It also went into timeout for months after I had stitchy burnout. It is the main reason I went to a rotation and having multiple wips!

April was a bit of a stitchy slump for me but I am using “recharging for Maynia” as my excuse 🙂

What newer designers and product creators (fabric or floss dyeing, etc) out there have you discovered and recommend?

Well I wouldn’t say that I stay up to date with anything but New to me:

Fiberlicious: I recently discovered their fabrics and they are amazing and beautiful! I love them. Also very timely when it comed to dyeing and shipping despite being UK (as I am US)

Caterpillar Cross Stitch: Some super cute patterns here!!

 

March saw some excellent progress, mucho bettero than February. ALL my WIPs got some progress (except for the alt. HAED but made changes to prevent this issue in the future).

This one pretty much just hit the qsnap. So less than 200 stitches have been accumulated but hey EVERY STITCH COUNTS!

Stitch 2 over 2 on 32ct Lugana in Heritage from Picture this Plus. Design Size is 137×181.’

This was my focus piece this month, getting anywhere from 50-150 stitches a day. I completed it with exactly enough stitches to complete the event in Ultimate Cross Stitch Group 🙂 This one saw several changes; I used August dragon for October, Octobers for December and Decembers for August. I am pleased with the results!

The backstitching was a beast but I knocked her out and have a small finish that I plan to frame and put in my bathroom!

Gadgets!  Show us your favorite stitching gadgets!  and How did you do with Olympic Stitching, and what goals did you achieve?

One of my favorite stitch gadgets is the stand I got to hold my iPad (where I keep my patterns). I can take it anywhere and set it up like a monitor stand or at home I have a few brackets stratigically placed throughout my house that I can hook it into

Secondly, This seam ripper is the most amazing one I have ever seen. It was a gift at a retreat from Karen Macon, I picked her up from the airport, we bonded, she gave me this. Its amazing.

I had chosen the rotation relay for the Olympic Stitching and I did very well but I wouldn’t say I completely accomplished it as Fall Wreath didn’t get any stitches. Everything else did. For Shame Sammy!!! I know!! LOL

Wipocalypse January Update

I touched on all my projects already this month. Some got just a few stitches and some saw some major progress I also had 3 finishes for the month of January!! So I will give an update on each current WIP, then the new additions to Wipocalypse, Next will be the finishes. In future months I will endeavor to give a before and after picture but I am not prepared for that this month 🙂

Monthly Prompt

What SAL’s are you participating in this year? and If you are participating in the Olympic Stitching Challenge, what challenge are you accepting?  What are your goals?

Everything? I mean pretty much, I joined several SALs with each of the many cross Stitch groups I am a part of including; YoW, Wipocalypse, Year of Starts, Featured designers and so many more. As for Mystery SALs I am doing the Guardians of Notre Dame by Ingleside Imaginarium and Legendary Creatures from Cloudsfactory.

I think I will be participating in the Olympic Stitching Challenge. I plan to do the Rotation relay and put a minimum of 500 stitches in every WIP.

January Smalls

I decided to make each Friday a day to stitch smalls. I was able to stick to that plan thus far. I want to make the first Friday of the month for my advent animals as I am treating each as a separate WIP. The second Friday will be for a Christmas ornament. The third Friday will be for a Halloween Ornament. The fourth Friday will be for whichever of the above three. I hope to finish one project a month.

January started off with me being out of town and not stitching the first Friday of the month. So I shifted my plans a bit. The second Friday I worked on Fitz Frog from Brooks books advent animals. I had started him on Dec 2,2017. I finished him on Jan 13, 2018.

The second Friday I started a new Christmas ornament I had kitted. It’s Noel by Ursula Michaels and came in an ornament book I purchased a few years ago. I am working on doing every ornament in the book. I dyed the fabric myself, and finished it the next morning. Started Jan 19,2018 and Finished Jan 20,2018.

I plan on starting a Halloween small tonight if I have the time. See y’all next month!

Day 2 of 2018

Well working on day 2 and so far I have stuck with my plans. I know that isn’t saying much but I have to give myself positive reinforcement. I pulled out Guardians and added the 75 stitches needed for the UCSG monthly event. So here’s that:

Then I pulled out Birthstone Dragons SAL to satisfy several events: To kill a dragon and my favorite things in Semi Sane Stitchers, Serial Killer in Cross Stitch Finish Line, and I was going to use it for the snowball fight in UCSG BUT *someone* forgot to take a before picture. LOL. I put in 1085 stitches during my shift at work tonight. Not including the bit of frogging I did (maybe 10 stitches?). So all in all I am moving right along in 2018!

I am going out of town for a few days to visit some family. I have every intention of stitching and blogging while I am there. With that said, you know how life goes so if you don’t see updates you will know why. I am also pushing off my next flosstube till next week due to being out of town.

New Year, New Start, New Frog?

Good Morning! Happy New Year to my lovelies 🙂 I spent the last moments of 2017 at work. I used Facebook messenger to have a three way video chat with my husband (also at work) and my daughter. My son fell asleep about an hour before the ball drop. As soon as I rang in the new year virtually with my family I began to work on my New Year, New Start. I chose:

Stitching 2 over 2 on 32ct Jobelan in Vampyris by Under the Sea Fabrics. Design size is 165×162. Currently colors as charted both DMC and GAST.

I enjoyed the stitch with me video that Michelle (Bendy Stitchy) posted, Rachel Dannewitz year end wrap up, Garrett (coffeestitcher) and his plans for 2018, Andrea Ried’s end of year post and Danielle’s (stitcherista) 2017 finishes 🙂 During this time I put in over 300 stitches completing one of the colors around the first window opening. When I started on the second color, Guess what I discover?!?!?! Almost all of it is wrong!

Happy New Year Mr.Frog. I am so glad to see I didn’t leave you in 2017 *please note my sarcasm*

So I jumped right back to it and got 441 before I needed to stop and pack my stuff in my truck before my relief gets here. Also so I could write this of course.

I am part of the Ultimate Cross Stitch Group on FB and they changed one of their monthly SALs from stitching a stitch for every member in the group to posting a calendar with so many stitches per day. SO, I have decided each month I will have a focus piece that will get daily attention in the amount listed for this SAL. Since I worked on this one tonight I decided it would be the focus piece this month. However, In future months it will only be pieces from my YoW list. I will be traveling this week and do not know if I will have much time to stitch or blog, but I will attempt to do so.

Working on Monopoly

As I was contemplating what I would write here this evening; I realized that there will be some overlap between what I write here and what I say on Flosstube. So I understand if participating in both maybe something readers/viewers choose not to do. Please be aware 🙂

I have not been doing much stitching this month. Partly because the season is dreadfully busy, also because I have been distracted and unfocused, and lastly because I have been planning how to have the most successful 2018 possible.

Tonight I decided I would stitch and catch up with my stitch with me videos. I had to create a playlist for them to be sure I did not miss any when I was ready to go back and watch them. I am working on Monopoly again as 1. It’s a new week and I have obligated myself with completing two “blocks” per week. 2. It’s a simple stitch and my mind has too much on it to put the focus necessary in some of my other projects. Here was my starting point for this evening:

While stitching I noticed a couple more errors in my pattern. First is that the R’s on the Reading Railroad block differ from the rest of the pattern. Insert grumpy face here. I caught it in time to fix one of the R’s but the other two were stitched and I was not ripping them out. Second, I thought I had erred and did not stitch the word Railroad onto Short Line, however, it was not on the pattern. I will be going back to add it in because it has the space alloted despite not being charted and I don’t want the one block to be different than the others. I purchased this pattern on Etsy and will not be giving it a great review. I don’t speak of where I purchased it on my flosstube as I know that technically the pattern isn’t “legit”. It wasnt sanctioned by the makers of the game and there is a paper pattern out there that is! I did purchase it however so it wasn’t obtained illegally, the rest is on the seller. Judge me if you want. Here is my stopping point for this evening:

I am taking a brain break for the remainder of December so I am not counting my stitches. Next year I plan to keep a very careful daily count so I will get back to it on Jan 1st.
